Avoiding Carbs to Lose Weight
After all the eating that done during the holiday season, now is the time to get back into shape. One of the most popular New Year’s Resolutions that everyone likes to make is to lose weight. While exercising can definitely help you achieve this, you would need to partner your exercise regimen with the right kind of diet in order for you to lose weight more effectively.
While there are a number of different weight-loss programs currently being patronized by people all over the world, switching to a diet where you limit your carbohydrate intake has been proven to be the most effective in terms not just of losing weight but also to keep the weight off.
How is this possible?
When food body takes in food, it is converted into energy based on the kinds of food groups that are ingested. Foods that are rich in carbohydrates are the first to be converted into energy, followed by fatty tissues. Any nutrients that are not converted into energy are then stored in the body for later use in fatty tissues deposited in our body.
The main reason why many people gain weight is because they are not able to burn off all the food that is taken in. As a result more energy is then stored into the body. The only way that extra fat is eliminated from the body is when it is converted into energy brought about by physical activity. In order for this to happen, diet programs such as the Atkins diet and South Beach diet restrict the intake of carbohydrates into the body. This is to allow the body to revert into a phase called ketosis, which is the ability of the body to convert fatty tissues deposited in the body into energy. This energy can then be used by the body.
Diet programs that are comprised of foods that are rich in protein are also beneficial because they allow you to build up muscle mass, which would then help increase your metabolic process. The nutrients found in protein rich foods help your body repair worn out muscle fibers that are brought about by your workout routine. Avoiding carbs in order to lose weight and instead taking in more foods that are rich in protein and fiber would also make you fill full and satisfied more quickly. You will also feel full for a longer period of time, thus relieving the need for you to eat more frequently.
This does not mean to say to avoid carbs altogether. After all, your body still needs a supply of carbohydrates as a source of fuel. However, if you are trying to lose weight, it is ideal to first avoid any foods that are rich in carbs in order to lose weight and achieve your desired goal.
